BE LOCAL
BE LOCAL, LEARN ABOUT THE HILLS COMMUNITY
BECOME A LOCAL, BE PART OF THE COMMUNITY
BEING LOCAL AND BECOMING LOCAL means knowing about local things. The Community, the history, and why we all love being a part of the Dandenong Ranges.
There are stories to tell, places to discover and wonderful homes are our specialty
LOCAL EVENTS
Festivals, Events and Markets, from the quirky to the traditional, Hills people love to be out and about, as much as they love to be at home.
LOCAL PLACES
World-famous places like the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden, Puffing Billy, Skyhigh Restaurant, Nicholas Gardens, & the Arboretum.
I love being a local, I have been a local for a long time and my family still lives here too.
The stories and learnings are mine, your experience may be different but I encourage you to get out into the community, become part of the community, and really submerse yourself.
Each month I will feature another local area, showing you my favourite places, and showcasing local community events.

BEING LOCAL, BECOMING LOCAL
In the Hills, we have quite a number of Community Events and when you become a local you can be part of the organising team or just come along and enjoy.
In May, there is the Mt Dandenong Pre School Chestnut Festival, in March and November, the Church Fairs of St Matthews and St Michaels and October we have Halloween on the Green (sadly not on in 2023 but I believe it will be back in 2024).
We have Car Boot Sales (Olinda Community House), a Vintage Car Rally, Book Fairs, the Belgrave Lantern Festival, the Puffing Billy Run and so much more.
Open Gardens, Open Studios and Cafes Open most of the time (check, many local places close on a Tuesday)
We have sporting groups, garden groups, and trail running groups. If you want it and we don’t have it then we have people that can help you create it.
Become a local.
