When covid hit and lockdowns were never ending my business, Ms. Property Melbourne was impacted dramatically.
An advocacy service operating throughout Victoria was just not going to be feasible so back to real estate it was.
Using my own name was fast but was not my desired end game.

From Carol Robertson Real Estate to Dandenong Ranges Real Estate.
Covid was still causing trouble and finding Dandenong Ranges Real Estate was available meant I could stop using my own name (because I had other intentions for my name).
Still in real estate but a more user friendly/google friendly name

Time to get back to advocacy full-time. As much as I love real estate – I wouldn’t have the longevity of over 20 years if I wasn’t passionate about helping people buy and sell their home – I was concerned about the conflict of interest.
Who did I work for? The Seller or the Buyer? Agents want to keep the buyer on side because they become the long term prospect but the Seller is their client.
Real Estate Advocacy means making a decision as to who your client is – no conflict of interest. You are either working for the buyer OR working for the seller. Much more in tune with my own values.
Same person, different business name, different business model. Carol Robertson Real Estate is now Dandenong Ranges Real Estate Advocacy.
What is in a name? Did Shakespeare have it right when he wrote the words “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet”?
It’s the name and reputation behind the brand, the people of the brand.
I have thought about this over and over and over. Rinse repeat. The hesitation with any business when using your own name is that you risk an ‘Alannah Hill’ happening, where you no longer have control over your own name.
When I began Carol Robertson Real Estate I wanted to use a name that was individual, unique almost (there are a million Carol Robertsons globally but never mind). There wasn’t a name more suited to what I spoke for than my own name.
I had other plans in mind, a long way down the track for that name however to sell real estate in the Dandenong Ranges and create a special offering, a boutique, bespoke offering, then my name was the best I could think of at the time.
Well. It appears that it wasn’t the best name I could have.
Playing around one day with domain names (website addresses) and I tried a name that I had tried many, many times before but it was always held by someone else. This name was perfect. There is no other name that screams what I do and what I want to do more than this name. OMGoodness gracious me!
It was available. Of course, I immediately jumped on it.
For the past few months I have been working on, developing and creating a better name than even mine.
Welcome to Dandenong Ranges Real Estate.
The same offering as Carol Robertson Real Estate, still bespoke, still for Dandenong Ranges locals, still focused on our client and the journey they are on.

As a long-term Mount Dandenong local I understand living in the Hills. I have worked in real estate long enough to respect most agencies need for fast turnover, they have profit margins to meet and staff to keep employed.
In contrast, as a boutique real estate service, my offering centres around the client getting what they want. Sometimes this takes a little longer, takes more persistence, the client retains top position. Client, Company, Me.
Working throughout the Dandenong Ranges, working with only a very few clients at a time, gives flexibility and options.
