VALUES OF DRRE
What does it mean to be Values driven?
A value led life is a life driven with purpose and integrity. Understanding personal values and bringing them across to my business ensures that I will deal with decisions knowing that I will make choices consistent with what’s ultimately important to me and those I serve/interact with.
Sometimes our Values can be a work in progress and sometimes we slip however the following Values encapsulate my personal Values and how I want them to work within the Dandenong Ranges Real Estate framework.
VALUE 1 – Integrity – know and do what is right
I question decisions. Is this right? Is this fair?
Will my decision impact others and if so, how
Will there be long term consequences to my decision
What am I sacrificing because of my decision
Am I acting responsibly
VALUE 2 – Respect – treating others how I would like to be treated
I value transparency – I loathe smoke and mirrors, just say it (SIDE NOTE: Ask ‘is this kind, will this hurt the other person, is this necessary’)
I give the same to my clients, sometimes it’s not what they wanted to hear but lying or giving half truths helps neither of us.
I respect others knowledge, learnings and experiences
I expect my knowledge, learning and experience to be respected
I work hard to achieve my clients goals
I am fair and treat all equally
I treat all that my clients tell me with confidentiality
VALUE 3 – Responsibility – I embrace opportunities to contribute
I contribute to whichever group I am involved with.
I am one of the first to put up my hand to help – community groups, mentoring, (I will always avoid household tasks if I can however!)
Tintern Old Girls Association – President 2009 – current
National Council of Women (Victoria) note taker – 2020 – current
Past Voices of Women Committee Member (striving to attract more women to Local Council positions)
Past Tintern Grammar Board Member
Past REIV Ethics Committee
Past Olinda Ferny Creek Football Club Secretary
Past Mt Dandenong Pre School Committee, Treasurer, Enrolment Officer
Past Ranges Basketball Club Committee
VALUE 4 – Sportsmanship – I bring my best to all competition
I am competitive, I loathe to lose however if I do so then I will accept with good grace (working on this!)
I do not talk about other real estate agents or cast slurs on how they behave or conduct their business
If I succeed it is because I have trained hard and worked diligently to achieve my Vision.
VALUE 5 – Servant Leadership – I serve the common good.
I grew up in an era of the boss being the leader, they were the ones focused on the organisation thriving. They told you to do something and you did.
I want more than that with DRRE and it’s people. I read about Servant Leadership in an article on the TBM website: https://tbmpayroll.com/2019/10/22/4-principles-of-servant-leadership/ and immediately loved it as the way I believe leadership should be and my vision of creating a real estate agency with these principles.
Servant leadership is defined as a “philosophy and set of practices that enriches the lives of individuals, builds better organizations and ultimately creates a more just and caring world.”
There are four principles involved that I want DRRE to follow:
Encourage diversity of thought, not just about gender, race etc. it’s about thinking differently and encouraging others to be involved and contribute.
I want to encourage this both with my eventual team and with my clients. Collaboration moves us forward.
Create a culture of trust, transparency, clear systems that people can rely on. If we trust then we are prepared to give more.
This can work in real estate. I am determined. Real estate is typically highly competitive, both in office and with other agents. It is not an industry founded in trust of ones colleagues. This is a horrible system, for clients, for the mental health of a team.
The DRRE team will understand our mission, our values and our overall vision. I know what mine is however I firmly believe that our team will evolve and create a vision that will make DRRE strong, values driven and client focused.
Have an unselfish mindset – its not about me
Real estate is about people. Theoretically. Realistically, it is about profit. Money.
A team that is thinking about each other and helping each other out, not beating one another to the trophy at the end.
I have always believed that working with my team rather than being the boss will work better for all us, make a happier, more productive workplace.
Foster leadership in others
Coaching, mentoring, growth. I have always encouraged previous teams to pursue their dreams, their growth.
I act as a Mentor to many, if I can help their career, support them, introduce them to others or further education, then I will.
Values and DRRE
Real estate is a service business, what does this look like with DRRE?
All emails and messages are answered in a timely manner
All elements of the sales process that require human interventions are completed by me.
Buyers will be treated with respect and responded to fairly. This includes transparency and willingness to discuss their options.
I serve my clients, my company and then myself.
I maintain my REIV membership requiring Continuing Professional Development – always striving to be up to date with legislation and how I can serve people better.
I aim to make real estate agents act more responsibly and with more care changing the way we are generally viewed.
